Q: Why choose Center Mass Shooting School for my Concealed Weapons Permit Training?
A: First, Center Mass Shooting School offers the complete package without add on fees. Your course fee includes the state SLED fee of $50.00, your fingerprint fees and range fees. There are no additional costs to actually get your permit. We put together your package and after you qualify on the range, your package will be complete and we will check your paperwork and send your package to SLED for you. In other words, we do all the work, you will not have to chase around town trying to put your package together to send to SLED. Ours is the most efficient method, we are a one stop shop.
Q: What do I need for the CWP Course?
A: Bring a jacket or some type of cover garment. It does not have to be an open front; we will teach you both methods of drawing your firearm (from an open front garment and from a closed garment). You do not need a firearm but you should talk to one of our Instructors to select one of the school’s firearms because you will need to purchase 50 rounds of ammunition for your selected firearm. Many of our students choose to bring an additional 50 rounds of ammunition and do some additional shooting after the qualification just so the new techniques they learn in class are really ingrained.
Q: What if I don’t own a firearm yet?
A: Center Mass Shooting School has firearms you can use for the qualification portion of your class. As a matter of fact, this is a great way to shoot a few different firearms to help you in your selection process. Many of our students use this experience to make the final selection as to make and caliber of the firearm they finally purchase. Try before you buy. Center Mass Shooting School does not charge for this service.
Q: How hard are the written and shooting tests for the South Carolina Concealed Weapons Course?
A: The tests are very easy when you listen and pay attention in class and on the range. We have very few people complain about the difficulty of the exam and shooting test. The passing grades on the exam and shooting are 70%. Please do not worry about the exam or shooting tests our Instructors are among the finest and they have years of experience in teaching and shooting experience. We will get you qualified safely and confidently.
Q: How long will it take to get my Concealed Weapons Permit?
A: The South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit Class is a State mandated eight hour class. You will be in class /on the range for a minimum of eight hours. There is a lot of information to go through so you won’t be bored and the information is very relevant so you will enjoy the content.
Q: Once I pass the course, how long until my actual permit arrives in the mail?
A: That is up to SLED but they have made steps to streamline the process. Recently the permits have been taking about 120 days. The best way to speed up the process is to take the class as soon as possible and get your paperwork in now. Please do not call SLED and ask about your paperwork. They are busy and your calls just slow down the process.
Q: Does Center Mass Shooting School have additional firearms classes for those who are interested?
A: Absolutely, we encourage our students to continue their firearms and shooting education. Practice is critical because shooting is a perishable skill.
